On June 3, 2025, history was made at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad as Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) lifted their first-ever IPL trophy after defeating Punjab Kings by just 6 runs in a nail-biting final.
RCB batted first and scored 190/9 in 20 overs. Virat Kohli was the top scorer with 43 runs off 35 balls, showing his class and experience. Other batters supported with small but important contributions.
In the second innings, Punjab Kings gave a tough fight. Shashank Singh remained not out on 61 runs, and kept the hopes alive for Punjab till the last over. But RCB bowlers kept their nerves under control.
The real game-changer was the tight bowling in the last overs. When Punjab needed 20 runs from the last 2 overs, Krunal Pandya bowled a brilliant over giving just 4 runs and taking a key wicket.
In the final over, Bhuvneshwar Kumar bowled with great control under pressure. Punjab needed 12 runs, but Bhuvneshwar gave only 5 runs and took a wicket — sealing the win for RCB!
This win ended RCB’s 18-year wait. They had reached the final in 2009, 2011, and 2016 but couldn’t win. This time, they didn’t let the trophy slip away.
It was a proud moment for Virat Kohli, who has been with the team since the beginning in 2008. Fans from all over India celebrated this emotional and well-deserved victory.
Stadium was full of energy, and fans were chanting “RCB! RCB!” The victory brought tears of joy to many. Social media exploded with celebrations, memes, and tributes to the team and especially to Kohli.
